It's a sociobiological truism that men generally date down and across, while women date across and up. This dating market disparity is a consequence of the relative worth of eggs to sperm. Women have more to lose in each sexual transaction, so women as a sex are hypergamous -- they are always seeking a better deal. Game -- or as I prefer to call it, Learned Charisma -- is not a 'Score a Hard 10 with this One Weiner Trick!' -- as I sometimes hear from its critics. Sure, Game can occasionally offer up a real beauty to a man who otherwise had no expectation of winning one. But its real value is moving the needle on the options available to a man, and that includes removing the sub-optimal choices that a man naturally accumulates from a LACK of Game (aka Charisma). In most cases, the tangible benefit of Applied Charisma is removing the lowest quality women from a man's mate pool, and widening his pool of women who meet his threshold for attractiveness, both improvements which decrease the time he feels a desperate need to date down, and increase the time and opportunities he has to date across or even a little bit up. Do not underestimate the boost to a man's happiness and confidence from merely improving his dating life to exclude depressingly unattractive dumpster dives while enriching his romantic outlook with more women who meet his minimum standard for relationship worthiness, and even exceed his baseline criteria.
