Is anyone familiar with Islamic, Arabic, or Persian culture able to verify this widely-held belief that little girls are routinely married off to adult men? I had read somewhere that the practice, where it occurs, follows a cultural dictate that the marriage remain platonic and supervisory in nature until the girl is sexually mature, at which time consummation is permitted.
