IMO the common thread running through elite opinion of jews during the decades following the Enlightenment (and the Hajnalization of NW Euro Whites) is the internalized resistance to holding groups, rather than individuals, accountable for treachery that has a clear group-based element. Think of post-Enlightenment Anglos (and more broadly Hajnal Whites) as having evolved, culturally and genetically, an aversion to collective guilt and a strong preference for individual culpability. That era of White evolution featured a complete and total rejection, or even an inversion, of ethnocentrism. So when an observant Anglo Like Adams saw jews misbehaving, he lacked the psychological template for grasping how a hyper-ethnocentric group like the jews could carry their malignancies across generations, because the behaviors are built into the jewish character. For this reason, Enlightenment values are overdue for a course correction. Whites will gradually evolve back toward group-based guilt, because their hyper-individualism is proving to be an extortionate luxury in a world that is no longer limited in scope to NW European Whites.
