The missile fired at the American Apache helicopter that was patrolling the blockage line was intended to DESTROY it, thereby KILLING its occupants. Luckily, it didn't detonate but instead started a fire. The crew were able to extinguish the fire and save their lives by water-landing the chopper. The USA's response to this attack, and to Iran's intentionally 'negotiating' in bad faith to rebuild the weaponry and combat facilities initially destroyed, in order to retain or even increase its ability to attack shipping in the Strait, warranted President Trump's response.
