.@WildernessWatch I want #wilderness areas protected also, and the proposed #chainsaw & clearing actions may be #illegal under current law, but preventing #fires & allowing people to enjoy these areas are reasonable @forestservice goals. I appreciate your providing a very detailed FAQ document (first link), so that people can make an informed decision regarding signing your petition to STOP the proposed chainsaw use (second link). This portion of the FAQ is certainly reason for suspicion: "Around this same time, Idaho Outfitters and Guides Association - **a COMMERCIAL business trade association** - began quietly lobbying the Chief for chainsaw use in Wilderness—something previously off-limits because of the Wilderness Act’s ban on motorized use. Together, the Forest Service and IOGA started working up a plan, AVOIDING public notice and oversight until Wilderness Watch began receiving anonymous tips from concerned citizens, Forest Service employees, and even IOGA members." I signed the petition. https://wildernesswatch.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Chainsaws-in-Wilderness.pdf https://wildernesswatch.salsalabs.org/chainsaws-ronr-wilderness/index.html
