When every $dollar buys LESS, wage-earners need wages that RISE – and the #illegal #labor market pulls in exactly the opposite direction. Some employers hire illegally **precisely because it lets them pay less**, and **every illegal hire undercuts the wage floor for #Americans doing the same work** MANDATORY #EVerify would shut off the jobs magnet that drives illegal hiring. The Penn Wharton Budget Model estimates it would raise wages about 5 percent for authorized workers in lower-wage jobs – the very Americans inflation hits hardest. The Legal Workforce Act (H.R. 251) and the Mandatory E-Verify Act (S. 4620) would make E-Verify permanent and mandatory for all employers nationwide.
