Researchers at Oregon Health & Science University have converted human skin cells into egg cells and successfully fertilised them, marking a significant advance in treating female infertility. Using a technique called “mitomeiosis,” 82 eggs were created, but only 9% developed properly. While promising, all embryos exhibited genetic abnormalities and extensive research is necessary before clinical trials can begin.
