🇮🇪 A country is ultimately judged by how well it protects its own citizens. Ireland has become one of Europe’s most outspoken supporters of the Palestinian cause while also pursuing comparatively liberal immigration policies. Supporters argue these policies reflect humanitarian values. Critics argue they have come at the expense of public safety, border control, and confidence in the justice system. When violent offenders receive bail or sentences that many citizens view as too lenient, public trust erodes. Regardless of a suspect’s background, the first responsibility of any government is to protect law-abiding residents and ensure that violent crimes are prosecuted consistently and effectively. Compassion and security are not mutually exclusive. A country can uphold human rights while also maintaining secure borders, enforcing its laws, and putting the safety of its own citizens first. If people increasingly feel abandoned by their institutions, political frustration is a predictable consequence. ⚖️ Humanitarian values should never require sacrificing public safety. #Ireland #PublicSafety #Justice #Immigration #RuleOfLaw Europe BorderSecurit
