One of my first thoughts was, “How did Israeli intelligence not predict this?” I asked a friend in cybersecurity who trained with the IDF in counterintelligence. He said it’s difficult to conduct high fidelity intelligence on guerrilla units. They did know some but not all. If true, that means in 2023 a guerrilla organization can still be highly effective against a modern state if they’re embedded. Translation: We must close our border now if we care about survival, states defying the general government if need be.
