Liberal Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Is Dead The Liberal Justice who was nominated to the bench in 1993 by then Democrat President Bill Clinton, died Friday surrounded by her family. She died of complications from metastatic pancreatic cancer, the court said. The late Justice, who attained near cult-like status among left-wing circles is survived by her two children, Jane Carol and James Steven Ginsburg. Ginsburg, who spent more than two decades on the bench in the highest court of the land, has been in and out of hospital in recent years. Court observers have wondered why she has not retired. But Democrats have dreaded this moment because they don't want a Republican president to pick her replacement. The left-wing Justice was a pro-abortion activist who voted overwhelmingly party-line on most cases. President Trump has hinted in the past that he has a nominee ready should there be a vacancy in the Supreme Court.
