Unilever CEO Wants Ben & Jerry's To Stay Out Of Israel-Palestine Politics Woke ice cream maker Ben & Jerry’s last year controversially announced that it would halt sales in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in support of the global antisemitic 'BDS' boycott movement against Israel. The ice cream maker's corporate parent company Unilever has since sold its Israel division to a local franchisee Avi Zinger who plans to resume doing business in West Bank and East Jerusalem. “There is plenty for Ben & Jerry’s to get their teeth into on their social justice mission without straying into geopolitics,” Unilever CEO Alan Jope told The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday. “I’m sure the brand will continue to enjoy a very bright future doing just that.” Jope said the Vermont-based ice cream maker should instead focus on climate change and social justice issues. Ben & Jerry’s earlier this month, filed a lawsuit requesting that a federal judge in Manhattan issue a preliminary injunction blocking the sale of the brand to Zinger. The ice cream maker and Unilever then agreed to a two-week mediation period to see if the two sides can strike a deal to avoid litigation. Ben & Jerry's will continue seeking an injunction if no agreement is reached by Thursday. But despite the lawsuit, Jope said that Unilever has no plans to sell off the ice cream maker. https://www.keneci.com/more-on-hotfeed-keneci-channel#h.do87ht69icud
