From the first day, the actual opinions of most Ukrainians were distorted. False narratives were created to block diplomacy and negotiations, and to sell the absurd notion that weapons are the path to peace. The “friends of Ukraine” have been fighting a proxy war with Russia to the last Ukrainian. #NATO has now run out of Ukrainians to sacrifice, and the narratives must change. Recognizing that Russia considers NATO’s incursion into Ukraine an existential threat means that Russia can never capitulate — and the war will thus destroy Ukraine. Anyone who recognized this — and that Russia was winning — undermined the war narratives meant to keep it going, and was therefore smeared as “pro-Russian” or “anti-Ukrainian.” War propaganda always appeals to the best in humanity to achieve the worst.
