In 2019-2022, while working at USC in the lab of Valter Longo, the inventor of the Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD) - a product patented at USC, and sold by L-Nutra, a USC spinoff - I have been assigned to analyze the results of a clinical study comparing the FMD with a benchmark: the Mediterranean Diet. The subjects in the study were patients with hypertension and various cardiometabolic disorders, enrolled in Nashville by Mark Houston, the Director of the Hypertension Institute, and have been randomized in 2 arms: - the Mediterranean diet arm - the FMD arm: they would be advised to follow a healthy diet for 3 months and, for 5 days per month, they would be following the FMD, which comes as a box of lyophilized soups, nut bars, herbal tea bags, glycerol bottles, crackers, and olives. The FMD is a ketogenic diet that provides ~500-800 calories per day, mostly coming from healthy fats, hence it is a high fat diet. As every clinical study, ours too had a primary objective: measuring endothelial function via RHI (Reactive Hyperemia Index, a marker of endothelial dysfunction and cardiovascular risk) and AC1/AC2 (two markers of small and large arterial elasticity and cardiovascular risk). While analyzing the data of this study, I found that RHI worsened (decreased) with the FMD, but not with the Mediterranean diet: patients with already underlying hypertension who also underwent 3 months of FMD ended up having a worse endothelial function and a higher cardiovascular risk as compared to before starting the study! When I showed these results to Valter, who showed those results to L-Nutra, my rejection phase started, and, after years of abuse, harassment, and coercion, meant to manipulate, hide, or misinterpret, the results of this study, I have been victim of a severe retaliation that almost killed me, I have been demoted, deprived of my career, and ultimately terminated. After years of legal battle, private investigators trying to incriminate me, car accidents, vandalism, gang stalking, bullying and harassment, mysterious infections, frauds, and more, I have finally been able to bring to light these results, which are now public evidence in court and can finally be shown to the population.
