Rep. Milou Mackenzie Defends Life as an Abortion Amendment with No Gestational Cutoff Moves Closer to the Pennsylvania Senate Rep. Milou Mackenzie delivered a powerful defense of life in response to House Bill 1957, a radical constitutional amendment that unfortunately passed the Pennsylvania House on December 17th, 2025 by a razor thin 102 Yea to 101 Nay vote. Only two Republicans chose to stand with the abortion lobby instead of with life, Rep. @reptomlinson of the 18th District and Rep. @repjoehogan of the 142nd District. HB 1957 would attempt to enshrine abortion on demand into Pennsylvania’s Constitution and erase decades of bipartisan safety standards, and as written it contains no gestational cutoff, meaning abortion up to the second before birth. Rep. Mackenzie reminded Pennsylvanians of a clear truth when she said, “There is no denying that a human baby is about to be born.” She also pointed to the hope available for women in difficult situations, stating, “They do have another choice. They can give birth and give that baby to another woman who is longing to be a mother.”  (Video Courtesy: Pennsylvania General Assembly - House Broadcast) Now as this issue moves closer to the Pennsylvania Senate, Republicans hold a small 27 to 23 majority, but with 25 Senate seats up for election in 2026 and many of those held by Republicans, the political pressure will increase and some may be tempted to shift toward the political center to protect themselves. That is exactly why Pennsylvanians must make their voices heard.
