The Racial Prerequisite Cases of 1909 established North Africans and Mid easterners as White under the 1790 naturalization act, that only allowed "Free Whites" to become naturalized citizens. The court legislated browns as citizens despite U.S. law. Imagine: Africans were declared in 1909 to be White! Oh, I just read more! The reason #SCOTUS said North Africans (Egypt and Syria/Lebanon) are White is because the petitioners argued Jesus was White, so therefore people from Egypt and Syria/Lebanon had to be considered White, too. Foreign born blacks were first allowed to naturalize after the Naturalization Act of 1870. Foreign born Asians and browns were not allowed to naturalize until 1952.
