WE REMEMBER - PEARL HARBOR
December 7, 2021

Psalm 22:26-27 - The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the Lord that seek him: your heart shall live for ever. All the ends of the world shall REMEMBER and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

Good morning to all! Today we remember the events which took place at Pearl Harbor. My Navy veteran dad and accomplished musician had in his music collection the song, “Remember Pearl Harbor!” Lyrics:

History in ev'ry century records an act that lives forevermore.
We'll recall, as into line we fall, the thing that happened on Hawaii's
shore.

Let's REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR
As we go to meet the foe.
Let's REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR
As we did the Alamo.
We will always remember how they died for Liberty.
Let's REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR
And go on to victory."

Both my dad and his brother, Elzie, served our country during WWII in the Pacific theater. Dad’s ship (DE-60) was sent to Japan shortly after the bombs were dropped on the two cities. It is my understanding that there were Christian communities living within those two locations. The bombs stopped the war but were those locations chosen because of government war activity or for who lived there? The same “mo” is in operation today but TPTB are following the wrong master’s instruction. They will pay the price for believing the lie instead of, “THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE!”

Isaiah 2:4 - And HE shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

The KING IS COMING!

VETERAN’S DAY - WE REMEMBER!
November 11, 2021

Psalms 91:14-15 - Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble: I will deliver him and honour him.

Good morning to all! Today we honour all of our veterans who have served our country with distinction and who have taken their oath of office very seriously to protect and defend the USA against all threats both foreign and domestic.

I am blessed to come from a long line of veterans going back to the Revolutionary War. Today, I’m posting a photo of “The Gray Brothers.” My dad, James and his three brothers, Carl, Walter and Elsie who all fought in WWII. My other uncle, Theodore served in the military prior to WWII. My dad and uncles came from a large, patriotic, farming family of 18 children.

My Great Grandfather, William McDonald fought in the 82th Pennsylvania GAR in the war between the states and my Great (4) Grandfather Conrad “Reis” Rice fought in the Revolutionary War (profile photo).

All have passed this life and are in the presence of our Lord if they made that very important life decision to accept the free gift of salvation which was purchased for us at Calvary by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ/Yeshua!

Blessings to all!

FATHER’S DAY
June 20, 2021

Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Good morning and a happy and blessed Father’s Day to all! About twenty-five years ago (90's), while attending a conference in Charlotte, NC, an individual stated to me, “I don’t know what this means, but you are your father’s daughter!” Upon hearing that statement, I broke out in a grin from ear to ear. The reason for the large smile is that my mamma stated that phrase many times to me while I was growing up on the ridge here in Pennsylvania. Mamma was right and the passing of time has proven that fact.

Since my dad’s heavenly journey in October, 2009, I’ve missed his presence greatly. He wore a large variety of hats during his lifetime (WWII Navy veteran, musician, merchant marine, farmer, coal miner, Sunday school teacher, choir director/pianist) but what mattered the most was his steadfast faith in his Creator/Savior, Jesus Christ. This morning, I’m thinking of a phrase from the poem, “Only One Life”:

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

The back of my dad’s grave marker reads, “TO GOD BE THE GLORY!”

Well said dad! Until then...

MEMORIAL DAY - REMEMBERING HEROES
May 30, 2022

In my family line, we never lost a loved one in combat. However, my high school classmate and friend, Diane Gardner Ruffner and husband Chuck lost a son in Afghanistan on April 9, 2013.

Prior to his deployment, Matthew P. Ruffner, an accomplished AH-64D Apache helicopter instructor pilot, along with his unit trained in the skies above our home here on the ridge. It was always a joy to watch the unit in their exercises then and even now as they flyover the ridge while we remember the one who is missing from their formation.

Freedom isn’t free!
