The Swastika was a common design/motif used by a number of North American tribal cultures including the Ojibwe, long before Hitler used it for the Nazi Party. If I remember correctly, Navajo and Hopi artisans signed an agreement to eliminate the Swastika in their art after the rise of the Nazi regime in the 1930s. You might find this book interesting: https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/10221769-the-swastika It is an in depth study of its symbolism around the world. It’s a fascinating history. There are pdf versions available for free or you can order the book at a reasonable price. It’s so unfortunate that this ancient symbol has been decimated and used for evil when it was such an important and sacred thing for many people in the world.
