Two unidentified Helena girls appear ready to hop into action as they pose with their bunnies. An unknown photographer captured these images on glass plate negatives. They are part of the more than 29,000 glass plates found in the collections at the Montana Historical Society. Glass plates first employed the wet collodion process in the late 19th century and were later replaced by gelatin dry plates. Glass plate photography largely faded from the consumer market in the early 20th century as photographers adopted more convenient and less fragile films.
