FSD Supervised - recent experience Since I was planning on a fair bit of driving for Christmas, figured I'd spring for a month of FSD. 2022 Model Y Performance with HW 3 Over about 1000 miles of highway driving I felt compelled for safety related reasons to intervene twice. On my first day (330 miles) - I intervened for roadkill avoidance. It was a raccoon - maybe we could have cleared it but why risk the bumper cover. Second time was when emergency vehicles were on both shoulders. It wasn't sure which lane to be in (I felt straddling the divider line was wisest) There were a couple times on each of my 2nd and 3rd driving days (both about 300 miles) where I intervened because I didn't like what it was doing. Wasn't unsafe per-se, more a matter of making unnecessary lane changes to the 'fast lane' The last 100 miles I drove was on partly snow/black ice covered road. I took over for manual control here. I am quite certain that unsupervised it would have wrecked - it wasn't apparent the road was potentially icy and so it would happily have gone 10 over. I did run about 1/3rd of this 100 miles on FSD but I manually limited the max speed to 55 or 60 - taking over every time the road got more obviously snow covered.   The good: On the highway its pretty good for the most part - once you set a max speed. Still wants to hang out in the left lane a bit too much for my liking but in 900 or so miles I did only have two legit safety reasons to disengage (even then the road kill was the only disengage that could really resulted in damage) In city driving its pretty good when it has traffic lights to tell it that its safe to go. At stop signs it drives like a 130 year old. When a lane change is required its done it successfully, safely, and flawlessly. Never had to make it stop a lane change for safety reasons.   The bad: They need to let you engage TAC even when FSD won't work. (had one morning on my trip where for a short drive one of my side cameras was fogged up - annoying to not have at a minimum, cruise control) Its assessment on what a proper speed to travel needs a lot of work. It seems bound and determined to get you a speeding ticket. Its quite happy to do 15 over on city streets. This is bad bad bad. In my small town its 25 everywhere - if I try to let it drive it will do 35, maybe even 40 Even on Standard it was way too speed demon. Speed assessment was better on a highway but still goes faster than I like. Only time I ever want to go 15 over is when 50%+ of the other vehicles on the road are going that fast. Apart from that 8-9 over tops.   I will be cancelling the renew. In March when we take our spring break trip I'll probably get it again. Being able to have my hands in my lap for a road trip is worth it.
