⁨The Bible never says "the object is fine, just don't mean it." It says: the moment you direct worship acts (incense, bowing, prostration) at an object, it becomes an idol, and the righteous response is destruction. Numbers 21:8–9 — God commands an object made. The prescribed response is looking (Hebrew rāʾāh, "to see, observe"). No bowing. No prostration. No incense. No proskynēo. No latreia. Just look and live. 2 Kings 18:4 — Generations later, the people started burning incense to it. That is latreia — sacrificial service directed at an object.
