"Free Speech" Free Speech is only "free" speech When all viewpoints are allowed, Especially those disagreed with Or not popular among the crowd. ANYTHING can be deemed offensive By someone and in some way. If we aim to please EVERYONE, Then NO ONE could ever say What they think about anything, Because someone they'd offend. Therefore, speech must be "free" speech Or ALL speech would need to end. Truly "free" speech Gives EVERYONE the right To say what's on their mind, But it, too, provides insight To know what others think, Whether good, bad, in between, Allowing us to assess character That otherwise could not be seen. When we know where others stand, We can assess accordingly. We can agree or disagree And say so with speech that is free. When we suppress expression Of thoughts in a person's mind We suppress the troubled and to, Ticking time bombs we are blind. It's best to know people's thoughts And know where people stand. When people are afraid to speak For fear of reprimand, What troubles them turns inward And festers, eventually will blow And tragedy results when no one Can hear their mind to know. Free Speech does NOT mean, however, That ANYONE has the right To "force" others to comply with Their lifestyle, views, or sight. Free Speech does not allow for ANYONE to impose or force their will Onto others who do not agree With an ideology another one may till. NO ONE has the right to cause ANYONE to be physically harmed, Except in self/others' defense When threatened, thus, to alarmed. The term "hate speech" Is vaguely classified, Providing a convenient tool For evildoers to behind it hide, Along with their EVIL deeds, For it always provides a way To silence their opposition, Forbidding exposers to have a say. So, when truth is inconvenient, It can be labeled speech with hate, Which provides the evildoers The means to accountability, negate. Those who seek to control speech Have an agenda of some sort, Whether to simply control others Or prevent anyone to report The inconvenient truth about them They wish not to be disclosed, Because of wrongs they're doing, Have done. Such would be exposed. Those with skeletons in their closet, With nefarious deeds to hide, Seek to filter out information That free speech would override. When controls are implemented, Making speech no longer free, It then becomes a weapon To cancel rights and liberty. The ONLY ones who benefit then Are a select few at the top, Who then can lie and cheat Unchecked without a stop And truth is made the enemy, Which only protects the knaves And the people, as a result, Are transformed into slaves.
