It will allow the BC government to bypass the Legislature until 2027 to deal with any threats from the USA. Gives the BC government authority to use it when needed. Empower the government to respond quickly. Temporary- sunset clause 2 plus years form now (mid 2027) Does have guardrails • no natural resource projects (no pipelines or LNG terminals) • Indigenous communities must be involved • Only used is US forces it. It is designed to: • reduce immediate US tariff pressure • look at interprovincial trade barriers • direct government to cancel American procurement contracts • Add tolls and fees to U.S based trucks. PLUS Anything the government determines is needed to counter act trade threats.
