"American Blackout" - National Geographic docu-drama from 2013 Link to free and instant access: https://123moviesd.com/american-blackout/ No torrent download required, or password to a streaming service. "American Blackout" is an hour and a half docu-drama produced by NG depicting what could potentially happen to society in the event a coordinated cyber attack takes out the power grid. Sound familiar? This is what we keep hearing about as a likely upcoming scenario. More fake "hacking" attacks and such, taking out the petroleum pipelines, the power grid, etc. :/ The movie follows several groups of people who are in the middle of the inevitable societal collapse, recording things on their phones, and showing what would REALLY happen and how people REALLY are. It's realistic in that it shows that at the very beginning when the power first goes out and people believe it'll be back on in a few hours.....and that help is coming......ANY minute now........help is on the way........everybody is cooperative and in good spirits, acting like it's just fun and games. (The middle class suburban neighborhood barbecue scene perfectly illustrates this. Everybody communally contributing their meat to the grill for the neighborhood to eat so it doesn't go bad, and everybody being cheerful, helpful and having a good time. 'Cause ANY minute now the power will be back on......) But once people start to believe/realize that help isn't coming any time soon, food is running out and this is the new reality..............that's when things take a very dark, 180 turn. The dog-eat-dog, every man for himself mentality begins kicking in, along with the violent predators, thugs and rapists. The ending for the story involving the "upwardly mobile," naive, urban, white (probably liberal) couple holed up in their nice downtown high rise apartment really stuck with me for years, especially as a female. The moral of THAT story..........get some guns. Don't be the naive, clueless liberal tucked away in the urban city without any extra stored food, supplies or a means to defend yourself surrounded by crazed rapist thugs who DO have guns and want what you have. This is a reality check movie for anybody who still doesn't understand how bad things can get in society the second people run out of food and believe there's no hope, and there's no police to help you. This sort of thinking - or in other words, REALITY - scares a lot of people. Especially foo-fooey new agers. But it's time to face reality. Just do it matter-of-factly, is all. Understand the worst possible scenarios and then just methodically prepare yourself for it. You don't need to run off the rails with panic and fear. But burying your head in the sand and acting like a scared child, when you're supposedly a full grown adult, is not the answer either. Find that balanced middle ground, as always.
