Time for frivolity! Saw a clip from this concert posted today on somebody else's Gab feed, which inspired me to look up the full clip. Found the entire concert. Metallica, live, Monsters of Rock tour, 1991.........in Moscow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsnxAVBGep4 Just....holy shit, WOW. !! Love the American flags being waved around by Russians. Metallica played the Soviet Union for the first time, September 28, 1991, and within three months the entire country collapsed. 🤣 I don't know.....just sayin'........! Gotta love all those Soviet police though decked out like old school Nazis randomly beating people in the crowd with sticks. 🤣 O.o Must have been hard for them to pretend they didn't love this music and join in on the thrashing. Specifically I wanted to see Welcome to the Jungle live. And I think I found the absolute best version anybody will ever hear. And another one of my all time faves from this save time period, Living Colour, performing Cult of Personality live on Arsenio Hall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j74mxqvxRDQ One of the comments said it best: "This is the greatest ever live TV performance" And truly, the audience did NOT know what to do with themselves as somebody else noted. I'd say this performance went to waste on this show and audience but in actuality it didn't, only because it lives on forever on the internet. When I came across this clip earlier this year I was so blown away I had to show it to Tom.....who remembered watching this as a kid when it aired for the first time. He was 11. It made an impact on him and was one of many things that would go on to influence him becoming a guitarist and creating epic doom metal music. So he thought it was cool that decades later I was showing the clip back to him, just as impressed as he was 30+ years ago when he saw it for the first time. :)
