I am wanting to get a laser setup and will have to go with a new one. I am sitting on last year's bonus from work, so don't mind spending a little money but don't want to completely break the bank for an introductory laser. If I can get the laser, enclosure, rotate device for tumblers and perhaps an air assist for under $2k that would be good. I plan to engrave things on wood at first, but would like to be able to expand a bit without having to upgrade right away. Being able to personalize metal, slate and leather items is definitely on my radar. Also being able to cut out a template to use with a router is almost a requirement for my use, and I understand a budget laser won't be as fast as a commercial model. I understand Glowforge won't work unless it's connected to the Internet because your files aren't stored on your local tech. That's a deal killer for me. Lightburn, or a similar software compatibility, is a must. Can anyone make a few suggestions that are in the neighborhood of this description?
