W. Galt for “American Thinker” Making a murderer the ultimate victim of a society that did not care for her sufficiently is a sophisticated way of denying moral responsibility. Lindsay Clancy strangled her three children. This fact is not in dispute. She herself admits to having killed her children. What is extraordinary is not only the crime, but the reaction of sectors of the left and progressive culture that have, once again, inverted morality: the murderer becomes a victim icon, and the murdered children fade into the background. On social media, in commentary, and in certain coverage, the mantra is repeated that “the system failed her,” that “all mothers identify with her,” or that the true guilt lies with the husband, the doctors, or society. The focus shifts from the three extinguished lives to the suffering of the one who extinguished them. This inversion is not an isolated excess. It is part of a broader ideological pattern we have seen before: the contemporary left, heir to socialism and communism, operates with a logic that devalues individual life when it interferes with its narrative of oppression, victimhood, and social engineering. Historically, socialism and communism have always treated human life as malleable material. Millions of deaths in the name of equality, class, or progress were not accidents — they were the consequence of a vision that subordinates the concrete person to the collective project. The contemporary left has updated that logic with therapeutic language. It no longer speaks of “class enemies” but of “traumas,” “oppressive systems,” and “mental health.” The individual loses human value. Guilt dissolves into the environment. The murderer becomes the ultimate victim of a society that did not care for her sufficiently. It is a sophisticated way of denying moral responsibility. There is something unprecedented and especially corrosive in this case. Progressive culture has turned motherhood into an ideological battlefield. On one hand, it idealizes a performative and perfect motherhood on social media. On the other, when that image shatters in the most extreme way, it responds not with horror at the dead children but with selective empathy toward the mother who killed them. It is the same mentality that, in Europe and the United States, relativizes the crimes of certain groups, justifies mass immigration without assimilation, and defends left-wing authoritarian regimes while demonizing any firm defense of borders, order, or tradition. In all cases the same mechanism operates: Those who violate the laws and norms of Western civilization, within the narrative of oppression, deserve not accountability, but our understanding. Lindsay Clancy may have suffered a serious mental disorder. That is a medical and legal question for a jury to decide. What is non-negotiable is the moral hierarchy. Three innocent children were murdered one by one. Turning their murderer into a symbol of female victimhood or systemic failure is a PERVERSION. It reveals to what degree an ideology can distort the elementary sense of justice: protecting the most vulnerable and demanding accountability from those who destroy them. As long as the murderer becomes an icon and the murdered become a footnote, we will continue witnessing the same logic that has always ended in mountains of corpses. It is the ideological transformation of the left: its hatred of our value system leads it to despise human life; its desires for social engineering take precedence over people. It is an ideology with which one cannot negotiate — one can only try to eradicate it from our society as radically as possible.
