This John Stossel episode highlights 20 years of ongoing eminent domain abuse, including the sad true story of how New London politicians forced Suzette Kelo to sell her property to Pfizer so that Pfizer could build an office park (that they never built) and that New London could enjoy more tax revenue to spend (which they never received), all of which the U. S. Supreme Court foolishly upheld against our general welfare. As I might reiterate... Originally in the USA, "eminent domain" was Constitutionally restricted such that politicians could take land only for "public use" (like a courthouse) and only while providing "just compensation"---but, sadly, the phrase "public use" was essentially redefined in 2001 by America's Supreme Court to mean "any purpose that politicians allege may benefit the public," and their redefinition has falsely excused politicians nationwide in coercively redistributing private land. Despite legislation to curb abuses, abuses continue. Let's please thwart them! https://rumble.com/v6ubom5-little-pink-house-government-took-it-and-20-years-later-built-nothing.html #DueProcess #FifthAmendment #TakingsClause #EminentDomain #JustCompensation #PropertyRights #LandUse #EminentDomain #AbuseOfPower #LandStealing #LandRedistribution #UrbanBlight #Redevelopment #USSupremeCourt #SCOTUS #Lawsuits
