I was wondering if it was possible that Esdras A and Esdras B could *both* be canon. The answer seems clearly to be "no", since they drastically differ regarding the numbers of the exiles. The final total of 42,360 is consistent, but the component numbers greatly disagree. Some context: Of the two Greek books, Esdras B is much closer to the Masoretic Ezra+Nehemiah. Esdras A contains alternate versions of the end of 2 Chronicles + Ezra + Nehemiah, plus a unique section: the Tale of the Three Guardsmen. Only the East currently deems it canon.
