John Chrysostom interprets 1 Corinthians 7:21 as saying pretty much the opposite of what nearly every English translation implies it to say: "[…] but even if you have the power to gain your freedom, rather make use of your enslavement" https://ccel.org/ccel/schaff/npnf112/npnf112.iv.xx.html The only Greek→English translations I'm aware of to follow Chrysostom here are the NAB & NRSV (and NRSVue, though not as explicitly). Notably, it appears that the early Syriac translation of the NT agrees with Chrysostom, according to the pictured Syriac→English translations:
