Buffalo fired her after 19 years of service, months before she qualified for her pension. Horne fought back and helped create Cariol’s Law, requiring officers to intervene against unreasonable force and protecting those who do. A #court later overturned the ruling that upheld her termination and restored her benefits. She was not alone. #Chicago Sergeant Isaac Lambert, refused to alter reports involving an officer’s shooting of an unarmed teenager. He said he was demoted. A jury awarded him $910,000. #Baltimore #Detective Joe Crystal, reported officers for assaulting someone. He said coworkers called him a rat, refused him backup and left a dead rat on his car. This is why we don’t have enough good #cops. Departments demand loyalty to the #badge instead of loyalty to the #constitution and punish the few officers brave enough to choose their oaths. Then everyone wonders why the good ones stay silent, surrender or walk away.
