Happy International Home Birth Day. A day dedicated to recognizing the work that home birth midwives do and promoting the right of mothers to choose in which context to birth their children. Choosing a home birth for us was all about healing from my previous delivery. We did not want to be thrown back into a hospital setting where I had experienced the cascade of interventions and complications that come with it, not to mention the mental trauma. These were actually the reasons why we waited until about 28 weeks before reaching out to a midwife team. Flash forward to our daughter’s birth a week ago and it’s easy to see God’s plan in it all. If we hadn’t planned a home birth I 100% wouldn’t have made it to the hospital and would have given birth in the car. My labor was under 2 hours, and I got to experience it in the comfort of my own home. It was an incredibly healing and spiritual experience. I am grateful to God for the midwives who attended and helped deliver our precious baby Eva. Thank you for all that you do!
