Murphy’s law is in full swing around here. Hurt my back picking up a piece of paper off the floor. The IRS sent a $5,500 bill (not a bill according to the 9 page letter, but includes a late fee and payment ticket) A bill, by any other name, is still a bill. Turns out I do not owe this, and my financial advisor has 75 pages of documents to prove it, which will be mailed off to the IRS tomorrow. Mowed to beat the rain and found the 4 ft. deep hole and adjacent unfinished waterline ditch, filled to the brim with water. It seems that when the water main was hooked in, a faulty slip connector was used. 5 months of rain and a water leak had me standing knee deep in mud digging for the leak. (my back is not happy) It has now been repaired. We are on a community well so it is members of the community who do all the work. The man who installed the faulty connector fixed it after I found it. None of us are spring chickens. My youngest son, who would have come down and helped me, is out of commission as he broke both his tibia and fibula in a motorcycle accident on Monday and had surgery that night. He was in Colorado, so we just got him moved to New Mexico with his brother; who will drive him to Lubbock Friday, where his wife will pick him up and drive him home. Murphy needs to find a new home and the Texas monsoon season needs to cease and desist.
