Too many people will tell us incorrect things; largely because they do not truly, and fully, understand the things of God for themselves. Because they do not fully understand, often, they will simply repeat what they were told in Bible college. Just as word and phrases being used out of context can produce an incorrect understanding; cherry-picked Bible verses, words, and phrases from the Bible, can be used to produce beliefs which are out of Biblical context. When we are only shown the selected verses and words in the Bible, a belief can appear to be perfectly correct. Often, there are other Bible verses which can shoot holes into the belief. This is why we need to PRAYERFULLY read and study the Bible (repeatedly), cover to cover; so we will see all the Bible verses, including the verses that might shoot holes into the belief. Be careful, we are talking about our eternity. Too many people do not truly want to take the amount of time and effort needed to properly search the Bible for truth, so they take the lazy way out, and just ask somebody.
