Biblical Manhood vs. The "Womanish-Male" Proverbs 19:15 (LXX): “Cowardice possesses a womanish-male [or, an effeminate man], and [the] soul of [the] slothful [man] will hunger.” [From the ALT Study Version Notes:] The rendering “womanish-male” comes from ἀνδρογύναιος (androgýnaios), a combination of male (ἄρσην) and woman (γυνή). As a masculine adjective functioning substantively, it denotes a male who exhibits feminine psychological or behavioral traits—specifically a lack of fortitude, firmness, and discipline. In Proverbs 19:15, it describes a man whose timidity and sloth betray God-given masculine duties. This directly links to the New Testament condemnation of the malakós (μαλακός — soft/effeminate male) in 1Corinthians 6:9. Scripture consistently rejects the blurring of the distinct, created natures and roles God ordained for men and women. #ALT #ALTBible #Proverbs #Proverbs19 #BiblicalManhood #BiblicalGreek #Exegesis #StudyVersion #CreatedOrder #ChristianLiving #GodsDesign #ScriptureTruth #BiblicalTruth #GodsWord
