Serious question looking for pros and cons opinions: I picked up writing in my fantasy/sci-fi books again and want to be a self published author. Now, would an associates in English be worth it for not just being an author, but for other jobs pertaining to the degree as well? If I deem it worth it, I'd get, at the minimum, a bachelor's afterwards. I don't have any student loan debt, but I'm trying to figure something out for my future. Edit: Since everyone keeps hyper focusing on the author part, I have been writing books since I was 12. I'm 39. Never published because for one, my family thought it was a waste of time so never helped and two, as an adult I didn't have the funds to use a publishing company nor had a stable enough situation to be able to just write. I was reading novels that were nearly 1000 pages long by that age as well. I'm quite good at writing. I've had actual professionals see examples of my writing and gave me nothing, but praises. Lack of knowledge about being an author isn't an issue. This is not some cute hobby I'm doing because I'm bored. I'm trying to make this an actual career and to be taken seriously as a woman author. The classes would also be strictly online since the colleges around me are full of niggers. I was also asking about OTHER JOB OPPORTUNITIES that could possibly open up due to having, at least, an associates. I've tried for things such as data entry, freelancing, and even a librarian. All was rejected and I was told it was due to not having a degree. I am looking for a semi-steady source of income since I have not landed a normal job in quite some time.
