Have had prolonged exposure to carbon monoxide usually/possibly below typical monitoring device setting of 70 ppm for undetermined length of time, at least had weeks of night time nausea. Picked up elevated carboxyhemoglobin when I went to ER for hypoxic episodes per pulse ox and abnormal EKG. doctors missed it because, although I am a never smoker, my records were hacked to indicate I am a smoker and carboxyhemoglobin normals are higher for smokers than non smokers. Recommend people purchase the more expensive carbon monoxide monitoring devices that give read out down to 15 or less and share it around to anyone who might be at risk (symptomatic or not) as one friend of mine with 20 plus years military experience suggested exposing someone may be as simple as possessing a canister of same and putting a hose underneath the door to your bedroom. My exposure was not from a faulty heater because, in 4 years, I never turned that heater on but eventually someone turned the stopcock from off to on so I have to wonder if it was rigged to deliver gas (that did not need electronic ignition) anyway.
