“This use is acceptable.” - “That use isn’t.” Has always been part of Bitcoin's tech. Bitcoin was designed for monetary use. It's designed for monetary use only and nothing else. The "filters" people claim don't work, and which BIP110 tightens on consensus level, have always been part of it. EVERYONE in Bitcoin agrees it is money. Both opponents and proponents of BIP110 do. The sole difference here is that opponents claim it is a permissionless system because a small minority found exploits to use Bitcoin differently. The proponents of BIP110 understand Bitcoin is permissionless money and the underlying system always had rules to highlight this.
