Herb Morgan is running for State Controller to transform the office from a passive “I see nothing” bookkeeper into an active guardian of taxpayer dollars: open ledgers, real audits, modern oversight. Herb Morgan is a lifelong Californian. He arrived in California on his first birthday in 1967, grew up in Westminster and Oceanside, and attended local public schools before graduating with honors from the University of California at Santa Cruz. Herb is a seasoned investment professional with nearly four decades of experience in financial markets. He founded Efficient Market Advisors (EMA), one of the nation’s earliest ETF-based investment firms, which grew to manage $1.5 billion in assets under his leadership. In 2017, EMA was acquired by a major Wall Street firm, where Herb recently retired as their Chief Investment Officer for almost 10 years. His proven record of building and managing large-scale financial operations uniquely qualifies him to oversee the state’s massive budget and ensure taxpayer dollars are used wisely. Appointed by Mayor Jerry Sanders to the San Diego City Employees’ Retirement System (SDCERS) Board, Herb collaborated closely with fellow trustees to overhaul financial reporting and restore robust corporate governance. He was subsequently elected Board Chair twice by his peer trustees. We all have Democrats in our lives, and it can be very difficult to even discuss political issues, and even more so to persuade them to join our side. Facts seem to roll off their backs like water off a duck. Greg’s presentation will focus on how to talk to Democrats. Greg lived in San Bernardino County for 45 years. Greg was a student athlete and a top collegiate baseball prospect. When his parents needed help, Greg gave up his athletic dreams and went to work to help support his family. Greg built a successful construction business. After a serious industrial accident, Greg’s doctor told him he may never walk normally again. Greg threw himself into rehab and recovered to run marathons and Spartan races. Greg is the father of two daughters. He formed a group called “Not On Our Watch” and organized parents to protect their children and their parental rights in the Government Run Schools. Greg is now running for state assembly in District 45 against James Ramos, a very challenging race to say the least. **SUPPORT REFORM CALIFORNIA’S PROGRAM TO SEND 3 MILLION HAND-ADDRESSED ENVELOPES. Carl DeMaio’s https://www.ReformCalifornia.org is the most effective conservative statewide political organization in California. It is the best organization for us to work through in California. Among Reform California’s 2026 plans, they will send 3 million letters and voter guides in hand-addressed envelopes to low-propensity voting Republicans. Reform California plans to send the letters at the beginning of October when the ballots are mailed. We can volunteer through the above website. We have been hand-addressing the envelopes and putting Reform California’s cover letters in the envelopes. We will have one more envelope addressing session at Mill Creek on September 3, before our meeting starting at 5:00 pm. The next step in this great program is to put the customized voter guides in the envelopes. That will be done at Ken Calvert’s office in Corona. Please volunteer for a shift. (It’s easier than knocking on doors.) Watch your email.
