📚 More #WhiteBoySummer reading 📚 *The Backstory: My First Trip to Charleston SC* In 1999, I was stationed onboard a Navy destroyer. We were sent to port in Charleston SC with the task of escorting a tow ship towing a submarine to Norfolk VA. The weather at sea was too heavy for the tow so we were stuck in port for a week. One of my best weeks in the Navy. We worked to about 3pm each day then went to town. We toured Fort Sumter. Partied every night. 🍺 It was glorious. One afternoon we passed a bookshop called Old Historic Views. Curious, we went in. They had many books on the Old South and Confederacy. :confederateflag: I bought this one. I was criticized by my shipmates for having it. I brushed it off with comments like "I want to know how the other side thinks." (Today I would have just said fuck off, lol 😆).
