It is up to all of us to talk to our independent voting friends like this: Trump hasn’t fixed everything. Nobody does in two years. But a *lot* has moved: tax cuts, no tax on overtime, Social Security, or tips, Trump accounts for newborns, factories coming back because of the tariffs, a much tighter border, and violent crime at levels we haven’t seen in a very long time. People who broke the law to enter are being removed instead of released. Affordability is the hard part. Inflation is stubborn once it gets started—that’s the Biden hangover. They’re attacking it from a lot of directions (energy, the Fed, supply). Gas should ease as Venezuela output and the Strait of Hormuz situation improve. Food prices usually lag, but the direction is finally downward instead of “get used to it.” Now picture the other movie: Democrats running the House and Senate. You already know the script—more spending, more regulation, looser enforcement, and the same people who created the mess getting another turn at the wheel. Oh, and they will impeach and remove President Trump for no legitimate reason right away. That’s not a mystery. That’s what they ran on and what they tried to do last time. Independents don’t have to love every Republican. They just have to decide whether they want two more years of this direction or a reset back to the last one. Sitting it out or “sending a message” has a real price. The country is primed for a better stretch if the current team actually gets to finish the job. Don’t hand the keys back to the people who drove it into the ditch. Keep imperfect Republicans in. Let Trump cook the last two years. Then judge the results.
