Asylum: Read slow if you're a liberal. If you're escaping the country because of the threat of death, you seek asylum in the first country you go to that's not a threat. You can't keep traveling around seeking asylum until you find a better country. If you're from El Salvador and you're standing in Mexico, Mexico is your country to award asylum. You want to enter the US from Mexico it's no longer asylum, it's simple immigration. You're safe in Mexico.
