On the alleged "merger" of US & Israeli Military - A small thread: 1. There is NO single entity with unified command, shared leadership, or American troops placed under Israeli command! 2. They conduct joint exercises (e.g., Juniper Cobra, Juniper Oak), intelligence sharing and co-development of systems like missile defense (Iron Dome, Arrow), this also means some joined R&D cooperation. 3. There is some co-production of weapons, joint ventures, licensing, and integration of Israeli technologies into US supply chains (will also apply to use of AI, drones, robots). 4. "Network integration" & "data fusion" — allowing greater sharing of military data and systems. 5. There will be the appointment of a US Defense Department "executive agent" to coordinate efforts. 6. It's a move towards treating #Israel more as a defense industry partner rather than solely an aid recipient (potentially shifting some funding into Pentagon channels). 7. IMPORTANT: The proposed US-Israel integration would likely be closer & more specialized in certain bilateral technology & industrial areas than the US has with most individual #NATO partners, but NATO overall involves broader multilateral operational and command integration! 8. An issue for #NATO: Will the closer link with Israeli R&D impact on the F35-supply chain? Would mean billions of additional costs! Is this wanted (by the US)? BUT a much bigger issue: 9. Other issue: #Israel will have very detailed info on US military hardware, R&D and intelligence - This raises the question "What if the nature of the relationship ever changes?" Netanyahu will not govern forever! What if a much more fundamentalist gov is voted into power? #Israel & #US #Military "#Merger"
