Comments In Brief Short takes on selected items lately in the news, such as "reparations" for illegal immigrants, gender assignment, quirks in last week's election reporting, and more. THE BIDEN REGIME'S systematic attack on America has taken another bizarre turn with the proposition of "reparation" payments to illegal immigrants who were separated from the children they irresponsibly brought with them when crossing the national border. The storyline is that such separations were somehow unprecedented and tortious. But neither of these propositions is true. People being incarcerated pursuant to criminal charges NEVER have their children put in the jail cell with them. The idea is insane, and to have incarcerated the innocent children in the detention facilities with their charged parents is what would have been legitimately tortious. Likewise, the story that the Justice Department (sic) is floating-- that the (originally $450,000 per adult illegal involved, now morphing into a different, as-yet-unstated alternative figure) "reparation" payment is a "settlement". This bs is a contrived rationale meant to suggest that Biden & crew are protecting the rest of us from a higher obligation if these ridiculous claims went to trial. In fact, call me a cynic, but I suspect that the very idea of "claims" on the matter was dreamed up by someone in the Biden camp itself, and then proposed to the supposed "victims"...
