It's Time To Celebrate More Victories ...over the pernicious influence and effect of legal and historical fictions by which the long-running and now dire statist assault on liberty and the rule of law has been facilitated. Plus, a few important words on "gender fluidity" and the Jackson SCOTUS nomination. WE'RE IN A VERY DANGEROUS TIME right now. Those in possession of political power are allied with a newly-arisen group of private interests able to control the perceptions and discourse of a huge swath of the national population. This has never before been true in the way it is now. In the past, media organs were vastly more diverse. Nearly everybody read a newspaper and many, if not most, newspapers were independent. Even in the mainstream media, journalists competed with each other in digging up challenges to the dominant perspective or narrative, especially if that narrative was that of any powerful institution or commercial interest, and most especially if that institution was the state or the interest had a political dimension. Large businesses were less likely to be consolidated, and the atmosphere generated by their influence was less reflexively conformist and less able to be threatened and controlled by narrow-interest grievance industries. No one relied for their "news" and "facts" on addictive so-called social media in which public discourse and the popular picture of reality are "curated" and controlled with outright censorship on a massive scale. A MAJOR COMPONENT in the destruction of America's liberal order has been the embedding of false notions about the nature of the income tax into public perception. These false notions about the tax engender and support false notions about the Constitutional relationship of citizen and state-- false notions which, conversely, are impossible to sustain when the tax is understood. Not only is the fiction about the income tax a generator and sustainer of faulty and hugely harmful perceptions leading to a servile and helpless population, but its exploitation produces a river of wealth flowing from the citizenry into the hands of office-holders who use it to steadily eat away at everything that has made this country great. Because of the overwhelming significance of the issue, those going to the trouble to learn the truth about the tax, and refusing to play along with the lies, are today's true American heroes. Much else competes for our attention these days, but I want to devote some time in this newsletter to celebrating recent victories by these upstanding and outstanding men and women.
