My Pride bake is usually a big loaf of Pain de Campagne, because being a sourdough baker is almost as key to my identity as queerness. But let's be honest: bread doesn't really scream celebration. So when a Pride party or brunch rolls around this month, I'll bring bread and these nostalgic Ice Cream Sandwich Bars. And I'll double up on the rainbow sprinkles. My colleagues at King Arthur have their own impressive Pride bakes in mind. Molly Lawrence, KA's Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, will bake this stunning Streusely Lemon Coffee Cake. "What better way to celebrate Pride than with cake for breakfast?" she says. Fair! Wren Dullahan, our Bakery Flour Sales Associate, also has Pride breakfasts on the agenda. "My partner's sourdough starter, like our relationship, has lasted for three years and is still going strong. My absolute favorite thing she makes with it is King Arthur's Sourdough English Muffins." Meanwhile, Frankie Gaw, a King Arthur contributor, is making his Scallion Buns for Pride. They're "an acknowledgement of all the parts of my identity that I've kept hidden in the past," he says.
