I would like to share some pictures about my second fly fishing trip of May. I went on this trip with a passionate fly fisherman I met 3 years ago in New Zealand. Since we met, we've called each other every month to discuss about fly fishing ! ( In French of course (xd) ) Last year, I made him discover sight nymph fly fishing in a resurgence where water of the river comes from underground and which is very clear. ( That was our 1st adventure together and we didn't know each other very much ). These types of rivers are very tough to fish but you can stalk very big trout ! And last month, he made me discover fly fishing in mountain streams ( The name of mountains is " Les Pyrénées orientales " ). It's completely different ! Water of the river is very down, cold and streams or rivers flow slowly. It was one the hardest fly fishing trip I've ever made. My friend warned me it would be hard and that we should tramp for 6 to 7 hours. He told me "we will have to deserve our reward"... I suffered a lot physically...We got very big and heavy backpack ( about18 Kgs each ). We climbed very steep slopes - from the bottom of the mountain to a first mountain pass named " coll mitja " at about 2350m, then an other slope to 1830m to find a refuge and finally a last steep slope to reach a lake at about 2200m. Then we enjoyed sceneries, mountains, nature,streams, trout. It was an amazing experience and an incredible adventure. Fish were very small because of very hard life conditions ( air and water temperatures are low, food is scarce .... ) but we took more than one hundred and twenty fish in three days !!!! AMAZING !! Fish are very easy to catch for 2 main reasons : The 1st one because no one come here to fish, It's too hard (cwl) The second one because fish must only feed during a short period of time . Outside of this period everything will be frozen...so they are not fussy, they take all bugs that drift. To conclude, we really had a great time. I really loved this adventure for the landscapes that were extraordinary, for the stunning amount of fish but also and mostly because I could know my friend a little bit more and share this common passion that is fly fishing...
