It was fought on porches, dirt roads, and isolated farms. That’s why it matters to American preppers: it’s the closest real-world example of what happens when the fight comes to your front door. Farmers weren't safe in the countryside. The war found them anyway. Preppers take note: in a real collapse, isolation doesn’t mean safety, it can mean you’re a target. Like Rhodesia, the US has vast, rural regions full of people who want to be left alone. And just like Rhodesia, they’ll face looters, insurgents, and roving gangs if things fall apart. First of all, you're not that far away from civilization. Is there a Walmart within an hour's drive? Too close. You probably have neighbors within 1000 yards of your house. Your community may not be in a major metro area, but your horse-country idea of rural is not isolated enough. Bandits, raiders, and desperate refugees WILL find you. The dream of riding out a collapse in peace on your land? Rhodesia shows that dream dies fast if you’re not ready to fight. Hope isn’t a strategy. If you want a modern analogue to what it's like to defend your rural homestead, then look to Rhodesia. It's not a perfect analogy, but it's the best we have until SHTF. (Link in next post)
