I just came home from the feed store and went and collected eggs. I saw our heritage 5-year-old hen sitting pecking at the ground under the nesting box. I went back inside to fill up a bucket of water to refresh the waters in the yard, I began to hear flapping and all the animals started running. I am thinking it's a predator but as I went out there I saw our heritage pen flapping around on the ground. And she died within just those few minutes of me coming in to fill up the water jug. We saw no signs of any illness. I check her vent and it was enlarged. See picture attached. Could this be the way her body ended up after seizing out? Or is this a prolapsed vent, egg bound?
