So went down the rabbit hole of GM transmission failure. Pretty much planned failure from the factory. Number #1 Torque Converter uses thin metal which break down at temps above 200 F Number #2 Thermal Bypass valve installed on most GMTs ranging from 2014-2021. This allows transmission to stay at hotter temps because the thermostat won’t open around 195 F. ***2021-Current has updated Thermal Valve which opens at 158F but still could fail and lead to hot trans fluid. Number #3 AcDelco Trans Fluid has been tested and is not as reliable as the other Dexron-VI Compliant fluids. ProjectFarm did a great video on this. All 3 merge together and you get the magic 30k-60k miles of someone who doesn’t keep an eye on the trans temp. Or change their fluid within the 30k mile range..
