As for me, my mother (XX) 🇮🇹 is a bronze, hazel-eyed Southern Italian (“Samnite”) born in 1971 in a rural village called Pizzone in the famous region of Abruzzo. Thanks to her I grew up speaking Italian dialect (something I’m proud of, being in my mid-20’s); my father (XY) 🇲🇽 🇪🇸/🇵🇹 is a college-educated orthopedist from Guadalajara in the heart of Western Mexico, of prominent Galician (NW Iberian) heritage—his surnames Soutelo and Valadez reflect that, and that whole part of Mexico used to be known as Nueva Galicia [Nova Galiza].
